Projects supported by the Foundation

The Foundation gives emphasis to projects that have a direct connection with Sogreah's principal areas of activity: water, energy and the environment.
Bilou Toguna

2009 / Mali
Prefeasibility study with a view to building a 25 m high hill dam in the Dogon country of Mali.
Constance Aubert, a geological technician from Sogreah Echirolles, carried out an assignment from 8 to 18 May 2009 to determine the geology at the site.

Des jeunes pour la terre

2008 / Burkina Faso

Support to young disinherited farmers. This irrigation project by young people in the village of Souri is based on an original idea that includes diversifying crops and improving irrigation.

 

Jean-Luc Henry (a Sogreah retiree) performed a technical evaluation assignment from 1 to 10 March 2008, working as a hydrogeologist.

 

Comité Echanges Isère Kivu (CEIK)

2008 / Democratic Republic of Congo
The aim is to assist with several drinking water supply projects in the South Kivu region. Existing wells require permanent maintenance along with improvements in their yield and design.


Thibaut le Loc'h and Nicolas Conq (Sogreah Nantes) performed a technical evaluation assignment from 24 July to 19 August 2008.

 

FIDESCO

2009 / Guinea-Conakry
Fidesco has run a dispensary in Conakry since 1987, intended mainly for the poorest members of society. The Sogreah Foundation supported an audit of the wastewater and stormwater sewerage installations in the buildings in order to make sure that hygiene standards were impeccable.


Emmanuel Corbel (Sogreah Echirolles) visited Guinea from 19 to 29 April 2009 to audit the installations and draw up a master plan for the necessary works.

KYNAROU

2009 - 2010 / India
An audit was carried out for Kynarou (Tamil for "well") an association based in Chennai-Madras. The association helps to provide permanent access to drinking water, health and hygiene in poor villages in south India.


Aurélie Meunier-Marécal (Sogreah Réunion) and Thomas David (Sogreah Echirolles) visited Chennai (Madras) from 20 to 30 January 2009 to audit the association and put forward proposals for improving drinking water access, storage and distribution.

Enfants du Mékong

2009 - 2010 / Cambodia
The Sogreah Foundation and the association Enfants du Mékong have formed an educational partnership based on the sponsored transfer of skills, with the Mérieux tutoring centre in Phnom Penh. The Foundation's volunteers aimed to teach the students in an innovative way, focussing mainly on practical work.

The Sogreah Foundation sent six people betwen 2009 and 2010 including two executive assistants (Leïla Hakkar and Christine Milet), to computer specialists (Christophe Vial and Virginie Salas) to set up a computer room, and two engineers (Maurice Bolze and Franck del Rey).
 

 

Secours Catholique

2010 / Togo
Secours Catholique supports humanitarian action in France and internationally via its worldwide Caritas network. The Foundation provided technical expertise to help with the repair and creation of wells in the Savanes region of Togo, which is suffering from drought, in liaison with local experts.

Sébastien Langlais, a hydrogeologist from Sogreah Echirolles, visited the country from 12 to 21 January 2010 to check the geology of the site and make technical recommendations.

 

Amitiés Isère Dagaba

2010 / Ivory Coast
The aim of this association is to provide help to the inhabitants of Dagaba village in the areas of health, education and farming, but also to make the village, its traditions, humour and aspirations better known. That is why the chairman of the association asked the Sogreah Foundation to identify technical solutions for supplying water to the village.

David Ouary, a hydrogeologist from Sogreah Nantes, visited the village from 4 to 14 January 2010 to perform an initial assessment and propose solutions suited to the socio-economic context of the village.
