Floods and natural hazards

Floods are a major threat to people and property and have been studied extensively, so that it is now possible to forecast them more accurately, build more effective defences and manage crises more efficiently. Sogreah was a pioneer in the use of mathematical models to simulate flooding and has designed innumerable flood control schemes. We have extended our services to include prevention, vulnerability assessment, and the implementation of both structural and non-structural measures to reduce risks. We are regularly involved in drawing up flood risk prevention plans and municipal disaster contingency plans (in France), and play a prominent role in a number of major innovative projects in the field of flood warning, forecasting and management.
