Impact assessments and environmental and social studies

Impact assessments were introduced in the 1970s and have substantially increased our knowledge of risks and our ability to limit the impact of development works on the environment and human activities. They have been made compulsory in many countries and their scope has gradually been expanded to include new sustainable development objectives. We have performed thousands of environmental impact assessments since the 1960s and we are now extending our activity to include biodiversity conservation, public consultation and mitigating measures. Sogreah is a leader in making environmental protection a reality and is also involved in drawing up environmental action plans. Lastly, we assist our clients in the stakeholder consultation process that is a vital part of regional development projects.

Environmental Studies for Kambaratinskaya Hydropower Scheme

Description The hydropower scheme includes a cascade of two developments: - Kambarata I, comprising a 275 m high dam equipped with a tunnel-type spillway and an 1 860 MW power house - Kambarata II, comprising a 60 m high dam, a spillway with a capacity of 2 110 m^3/s and a 360 MW power house, together with all the ancillary structures.
