Dams and hydropower schemes

Hydropower represents about 17% of the electricity produced worldwide and remains the main source of renewable energy. About 95% of all hydropower comes from schemes with outputs exceeding 10 MW, the design of which is one of Sogreah's main areas of expertise. Sogreah was born of studies performed in France in the 1920s, and can now boast of having several million kW installed worldwide. We act as consultant to funding bodies and provide design and construction supervision services, and have built up a wealth of experience in all types of dam (arch, concrete gravity, RCC, rockfill, earth), and hydropower plant (low-, medium- and high-head, tidal and prefabricated).
